Eating Disorders have boomed during the pandemic – because it´s one of the few ways people have for exerting some element of control over their lives in an uncertain and chaotic situation. Whether you are struggling with any aspect of eating long-term or for the first time know you are not alone. And also that however despairing you may feel right now, getting things back on track is not as hard as you think with the right help.
Can you imagine being able to eat normally without dreading social events or panicking when you see a trigger food on offer? I fully understand the shame and secrecy associated with eating issues. If you´re yearning to eat normally please don´t give up hope – with the steps I teach this is within everyone’s reach.
What to expect from Sessions
Whether you are anorexic or bulimic or somewhere in-between, have tried treatments, or have never got professional support, the process is similar. Over or under eating is a coping mechanism for emotional overwhelm and extreme stress – and I will help you learn other ways to cope as well as working on reducing the overall discomfort by resolving the causes.
I help you separate feelings from eating and get your daily life in balance again using a combination of:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (food planning and recording eating)
- learning to feel body sensation
- breathing through emotion
- setting boundaries to create space for you so you don´t have to eat/starve/exercise
- slowly de-stigmatising dangerous foods and situations
- increasing tolerance for difficult feelings and clearing trauma
- ancestral clearing and family constellation as necessary
I was anorexic as a teenager and then bulimic for a number of years. I was introduced to CBT and food charts in my early twenties but it took me longer to understand the mechanism of feeling body sensation which actually makes the charts useful. I have been clear of any eating disorders for 25 years, and so I know that what I teach really works. I have added so many tools to my bag of tricks for getting people better fast that I didn´t have when I was struggling myself, and most people make a turn-around within 4-6 weeks. I have a huge amount of understanding for people (and especially mothers of young children) struggling with food. Clients have commented they find it a great relief to have someone as accepting and understanding to take them through to the other side with a good sense of humour.
In the words of a recent client:
Mira has been amazing helping me with my journey to recovery and freedom from an eating disorder. I am a highly sensitive person and I have never felt truly understood before having sessions with Mira.
She intuitively gets where I am coming from and has helped me put together the emotional jigsaw puzzle that is my life.
I can now see things clearly and most imporantly I have learnt tools to help myself with negative feeling in the future.
I cannot recommend her highly enough.
