My approach is that HS individuals NEED to include body sensation to get a handle on the overwhelm that emotion causes. (Most psychological therapies do not take this into account).
When we work together I meet you wherever you are in your experience of yourself and help you tackle your immediate difficulties with simple grounding tools, boundary tools that stop you from taking on other´s emotions, and a sensory system that helps you stay connected with yourself and avoid overwhelm. Learning new things always takes effort, but in time these tools become automatic and your emotional and practical experience becomes ever easier.
I want you to know that whatever challenges you are facing, whether that is not coping with smells or noise, wondering how you can possibly work in an office, taking on other people’s emotions, being constantly overwhelmed or feeling ill when you eat certain things, all your experiences are valid. You are not ill, and you do not need to be fixed. It is possible to find ways to adapt and live as you are without too much daily discomfort and to actually enjoy being yourself. That’s what I’m here to help you do.
