I help parents understand what is really happening underneath their child’s behaviour — and find a different way forward.
My work has grown out of more than 30 years of working with children, families and adults, and from a lifelong curiosity about what helps us feel safe, connected and able to thrive.
I began working with children with additional needs when I was still a teenager. Long before I knew the language of ADHD, dyslexia, autism or high sensitivity, I was fascinated by the individual child in front of me — what they were experiencing, what they were communicating, and what helped them feel able to learn and connect.
Over the years, my work has evolved through education, parenting support, craniosacral therapy, somatic work and family work. What connects all of these approaches is the same underlying principle:
When we understand what is happening beneath the behaviour, we can respond differently.
Today I work particularly with parents of sensitive and neurodivergent children, helping them understand behaviour through nervous-system awareness, connection and relationship.
Why I Do This Work
My own understanding of sensitivity has been an important part of my journey.
I only discovered the concept of high sensitivity later in my life. It gave me a language for something I had experienced for as long as I could remember — and helped me understand why I had always noticed things that others sometimes missed.
It also helped me understand the children I had been working with in a new way.
Rather than seeing sensitivity as something that needed to be fixed, I began to see it as a different way of experiencing the world. The same is true of many of the qualities we now associate with neurodivergence. In fact, later on I began to see how my own diagnosis of High Functioning Asperger’s (now know as being on the autism spectrum) accounted for a lot – including extreme differences in sensory processing.
A child who is overwhelmed, intensely emotional, highly perceptive, anxious, impulsive or struggling at school is communicating something. When you understand what that is, you can support them effectively.
My role is not to decide who that child should become. It is to help the adults around them understand what they are experiencing, so that the child can feel safer, more understood and more able to be themselves and express and do the things they want to.
This is at the heart of my work with parents today.
How I Work
I don’t believe there is one method that works for every child or every family.
I start with the child and the relationship around them.
I pay attention to what is happening beneath the behaviour — including the child’s nervous system, sensory experience, emotional world, patterns of connection and the responses of the adults around them.
This means we don’t simply ask:
“How do we stop this behaviour?”
We ask:
“What is this behaviour telling us?”
From there, we can begin to find responses that create more safety, connection and possibility.
I bring together my experience in parenting education, nervous-system awareness, embodiment, craniosacral therapy and family constellation work, choosing what is appropriate for the individual child and family rather than applying a fixed formula.
My Experience
My work has developed over many years and across several disciplines.
I began teaching children with additional needs in 1985 and went on to work privately with children with ADHD, Asperger’s, dyslexia and other learning differences.
My work gradually expanded beyond the child to include parents and families, as I saw how profoundly the relationships and environments around children can influence their emotional wellbeing and ability to learn. I did research into cognitive development in children and have been actively studying brain plasticity for 2 decades.
I have worked in private practice as a craniosacral and family therapist, supported parents and children through complex family situations, and developed a particular interest in sensitivity, nervous-system regulation, embodiment and the parent-child relationship. At the heart of it all, my passion is driven by the belief that every person’s soul comes here to do and express something particular. And I am here to facilitate that process.
Today, these different strands of experience come together in my parenting work.

What Also Informs My Work
My work isn’t separate from the way I live. My life is a quest for joy and freedom.
Meditation, movement, dance and time in nature have all taught me a great deal about presence, embodiment and regulation. I have had my fair share of physical and emotional challenges, which have propelled me to look deeper to find resolution.
I have practised Vipassana meditation since 1985 and have been deeply involved in 5Rhythms dance since 2001, becoming a qualified 5Rhythms teacher in 2021.
I also practise yoga and permaculture, and spend a lot of time connected with nature and growing food.
These experiences continually remind me that wellbeing isn’t something we achieve by thinking our way out of difficulty. We are embodied beings, and connection, movement, relationship and environment all matter.
Not Sure Where to Begin?
You don’t have to know exactly what kind of support you need before you get in touch.
A Parenting Clarity Call gives us space to talk about what is happening for your child, what you’ve already tried, and what might help next.
